Grace

I just got back from lunch and was reminded of God's Grace and love at lunch today. I won't go through the details but it was a good reminder of how blessed so many of are and how we sometimes don't realize it. So I wanted to thank all for their love and support. I know I'm not here without you.

So this incident has sort of shadowed what i wanted to do today and also taken away some of my focus so I'll be rambling here till I get things in order.

First things is I figured I had better post the list of things we are trying for this thing.

1. Chevening Scholarship Ghana
-It's a scholarship given through the british council. I would have to fly to ghana to interview for it but since it's been so long since i was home I am looking forward to the possibility.

2. Corporate Sponsorhip.
- I'm basically asking corporations to sponsor the degree and they get to have input and access to my skills and also to the fertile environment at the RCA. Ideas are worth alot. It's for this I'm writing that letter. I don't have too many options here but you never know. I'll also be posting the draft of the letter in english for any comments and suggestions. You'll aslo get a better idea of what I'm trying to do.

3. PayPal Donations on this site.
- This has been suggested and I'm not sure i'm going to do it especially with PayPal's current troubles but it would be nice. I definately have ideas as to how to make this fruitful to the donators i just need to get a new computer first. Stay tuned and let me know if you think this is a good idea.

4. Extra income ideas 1-4. These I'm not going to mention just yet accept for maybe one. There's a few studies (like a sleep study)around that I plan on signing up for. They pay pretty well for not having to do too much. There is a more prominent idea that only a couple of people know but until i can get it together and get it going I'm not gonna let ppl know. I try to keep laughter to a minimum. *curious* yeah i bet you are.

5. A second job
- This one I'm not so thrilled about especially because of my commute and also because my boss' schedule is not fixed at all so i never know when i have to stay late. But it has to stay an option especially in the last few months.

Well that's it for now. Stay tuned for that letter...

Superman and a little Nostalgia

A Myriad of thoughts today.

First of all Christopher Reeve is dead today. he was an icon to a a generation of geeks and i for one was saddened by the new. For me he was SuperMan. The fact that this type-cast stifled his career is seconday to the fact that he embodied superman. Especially after he was paralyzed he continued to be superman by defying doctors and breaking all the limits they set on him. The world will miss him and yet will always be inspired by his courage and strength.

R.I.P. Christopher Reeve - FOREVER SUPERMAN!!!!!!

Now on to the weekend. I had a great weekend especially onf saturday. Sunday was spent with family having some great ghanaian food. Saturday was a bit of nostalgia.

Spent saturday at the Museum of Contemporary Art here in Chicago with some friends. Had a great time. The current exhibition is highlighting Current Chinese Modern Artists. It was some really intelligent stuff. A lot of them were making comments on the changing cultural identity of modern day China. Comparing the past to now and the affect of the influx of wealth and Western culture. really good stuff..especially when compared to the stuff in the rest of the museum.

The stuff there is good but sometimes , to quote a polish friend of mine, " there's too much over-intellectualization". Modern Art usually needs to be explained but if after reading the reasoning I'm still shaking my head and feeling the need to SLAP someone silly then that's not good. I don't think this is the kind of emotion they want to illicit. It's pieces like these that make me feel good about being an engineer/designer where function is key. I mean i want to also produce artistic pieces that make statements but not the that kind be done in tiny tots. Anyway enough ranting

After viewing the exhibition had lunch at the Museum Restaurant which is a Wolfgang Pucks. It was great and not too expensive. I would actually say it was well priced. We had a 3 course meal and 2 bottles of wine, it was just fantastic and a good way to enjoy thelast of the good weather outside. It was also reminder of the times we had in europe. Where stuff like that would happen on a weekly basis. So it was also inspiration and reminds me what this is all about.

This week I'll be writing that letter in french (see below) and applying to a scholarship that opens up at the end of the week. Work is finally getting busy again so that means i'll be working much better. I'll also point you to two friend of mine's website via a review in a magazine. I am the hidden member of the collective. Great PPL and Great Work.
