Malaise
So the title today generally describes how I feel right now. Things are kinda slow right now. Work, home everything. I'm just trying to get things going. I don't know why it has become like this. The tendancy is to blame the weather and say my aversion to cold is driving this feeling. But truth be told i don't know.
The good thing that did happen yesterday is that I was able to "speak via IM to my brother who lives in Ghana. It was nice cause we don't speak much. There is no animosity and I can't really totally blame distance it's just the nature of th erelationship. That being said we always have good conversations when we do speak. I have to say he's responsible for one of the best memories in my life. A couple of years ago he was living in london and I went to visit him. We found out we support the same football team, the MIGHTY MIGHTY GUNNERS: Arsenal!! So during my 4 day visit we went to their stadium Highbury and watched a match. Fantastic!!! Living in the states i keep up through the internet and occasional trips to english/irish pubs in the area. So to witness the game live was just amazing.
Also I was able to do some reading yesterday. Which always makes me feel good. I don't really output alot but i love to consume. And books have alwasy been my favourite medium though currently i am very picky with what I'll read. When I was younger I would read everything. 3-4 books at a time. Anyway i previewed(read the first chapter) of 2 books i've been looking forward to reading and was quite pleased. The books are "Ecology of Commerce" by Paul Hawken , and "Letters to the Young Contrarian" by Richard Hitchens.
The first one is a very important read. i think it's a way for the world to move forward especially those in lesser developed nations. Especially to stop the blind following of western practices that lead to nothing but destruction of the natural resources and isolates wealth to a small percentage of the population.
The second one is very informative. It's got alot of historical and philosophical references in a very compact read. Something to clear the mind in the face of media idiocy from both sides. They are both pretty small books but packed with goodness so I recommend them. I'm picking them up on friday when I can exercise my discount.
Well that's it for me. Crawling slowly towards inspiration. Until then...
you know who
